Who found the artist

Most plates here arrived already credited — a source that recorded the artist, or the artist uploading their own work. The interesting ones are the rest: pictures that turned up with no name attached, where somebody had to go and work out who made them.

Only names worked out by a person are counted. A plate that came in already credited was nobody's discovery, and one an image search matched was the machine's — confirming a suggestion is not the same as producing one. A find stops counting if the plate is later removed.
