A night view of ‘Central’ Hong Kong as seen from Kowloon. Central is taller than Manhattan but not as big in terms of area as it is wedged into the side of a mountain. Also as soon as you move away from Central’s malls, dense with high end fashion boutiques that prove strangely boring as they epitomise the western generic, Hong Kong becomes a grittier experience than its US counterpart but is also more colourful and in my experience excitingly exotic and foreign.
