The Zermatt region is very popular, I don't think I've ever seen any other alpine area this busy despite going in the shoulder season, I'm more accustomed to being the only person around all day. The best thing to do then is to take advantage of it, sometimes people in photographs can act as a decent 'scale' for photos. - Me, the tourist, taking a photo of another tourist. This was taken at Trockener Steg, which is a station halfway up to "Klein Matterhorn", where a lot of people were heading for snowboarding. The Trockener Steg station overlooks great views of Zermatt valley, Matterhorn itself (photo of that later) as well as the whole Riffelberg/Gornergrat area, which is that downward sloping plateau. We did a walk all the way from the top to the bottom.
